Michael James (29 October 1935 – 5 February 2024), known professionally as Michael Jayston, was an English actor. He played The Valeyard in the 1986 Doctor Who serial The Trial of a Time Lord. He also played in a radio version of the novel You Only Live Twice in 1990, performing James Bond. He also appeared in the BBC comedy series Only Fools and Horses in 1996, playing Raquel's father. Jayston lived in Hove, Sussex. He died on 5 February 2024, at the age of 88, following a short illness.[2]
