Michael Spears (born December 28, 1977) is an Indigenous American actor and model. He is a member of the Kul Wičaša Lakota from the Lower Brulé Sioux Tribe of South Dakota. His first movie role was as the child character Otter, in the Academy-Award-winning 1990 movie Dances with Wolves. He has appeared in the television series 1883,[1] in season 2 of Reservation Dogs on Hulu and in the series 1923 on Paramount.[2]
Michael Spears was born in Chamberlain, South Dakota near the Lower Brulé Indian Reservation.[3] After that, his family moved to Pierre, South Dakota.[4]
He has six siblings. His younger brother, Eddie, is also an actor.[5]
