Mineral acid

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In chemistry, a mineral acid is an acid that is made from inorganic compounds. Mineral acids are different from organic acids, which are organic compounds. The name comes from how many can be made by reacting a stronger acid with a mineral containing a salt of that acid.

Sulfuric acid, the most produced chemical in the world, is a mineral acid. Other important mineral acids are nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, and phosphoric acid.
