Mirwais Khan Hotak honourifically known as Mirwais Nika or Grandfather of Afghanistan was an Afghan Ghilji Chief who founded the Hotak dynasty in 1709 from Kandahar, Afghanistan after liberating the country from the Safavids.[1]

His son, Mahmud Hotak known as The Conqueror crossed over from Afghanistan and conquered Persia after defeating the Safavid Empire.[2]
