Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is an upcoming American action spy movie. It is expected to be released on May 23, 2025 in North America.[1] It was directed by Christopher McQuarrie and produced by Tom Cruise and McQuarrie.[2] It is the eighth movie in the Mission: Impossible series and the back-to-back sequel to the 2023 movie Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

The movie follows IMF agent Ethan Hunt as he goes on a mission with his team to try and stop a man named Gabriel before he can obtain an AI program that can weaken the world's stability.[3]

Principal photography for the movie started in March 2022 and ended in November 2024.[4][5] It has a budget of $400 million and is one of the most expensive movies ever made.[5]

Both Dead Reckoning Part One and The Final Reckoning have been billed as the final time Cruise will play Ethan Hunt. However, Cruise has said he is still interested in playing the character and compared it to Harrison Ford still playing Indiana Jones in his 70s.[6]
