Nury Martinez

Nury Martinez (born July 9, 1973) is an American Democratic politician. She has been a member of the Los Angeles City Council since 2013.[1] In 2020, she became the council's president. She is the first Latina to become President of the council.

In October 2022, she resigned as city council president after making racist comments about African-Americans in Los Angeles.[2]

Martinez was born in San Fernando Valley, California. She studied at California State University, Northridge.
