Operation Dragoon, was the code name for the Allied landings in southern France during World War II.

The landings began on August 15 1944.[1] At this point the allies had gained a foot hold in north-western France and were advancing on Paris. The allies liberated the Port towns by the 28th and began moving north. On September 10, the allies liberated Dijon and linked up with the forces from operation overlord. [2]
