It was co-written and co-produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff from the American alternative band Fun. The two produced the song along with Swedish songwriter and producer Max Martin. The song is the fourth track on the album. It became her sixth top-20 hit in a row on the US Billboard Hot 100.
"Out of the Woods" was re-released on October 27th, 2023 as "Out of the Woods (Taylor's Version)"
The music video for the song was released on December 31, 2015, live on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest on ABC stations in the United States.
