Paul Hellyer

Paul Theodore Hellyer, PC (6 August 1923 – 8 August 2021) was a Canadian engineer, politician, writer, and commentator. He was the longest serving member of the Privy Council of Canada.[1] He was born in Waterford, Ontario.

Hellyer was a member of the Parliament of Canada from 1949 to 1957 and again from 1958 to 1974. He was Minister of National Defence from 1963 to 1967 and Minister of Transport from 1967 to 1969.

Hellyer died on 8 August 2021 after falling at his Toronto home, just two days after his 98th birthday.[2]
