Paulo Evaristo Arns OFM (Brazilian Portuguese: [ˈpawlu evaˈɾistu ˈaɾns]; 14 September 1921 – 14 December 2016) was a Brazilian prelate of the Catholic Church. He was a Cardinal and the Archbishop of São Paulo. He was made cardinal by Pope Paul VI.
He was the last surviving cardinal elevated by Pope Paul VI. (Though Joseph Ratzinger, Pope Benedict XVI, is still living, he is no longer a member of the College of Cardinals).[1]
After a long illness he died in a São Paulo hospital on 14 December 2016, aged 95.[2]
