Pleurodema is a group of frogs in the family Leptodactylidae. These frogs live in South America. People sometimes call them four-eyed frogs in English.[1][2]
When the frog is frightened, it lowers its head and raises its rear end. This points the frog's poison glands at whatever has scared it. Sometimes the animal that wants to eat the frog may think the frog's raised rear end is the head of a larger animal.[3]
