The police force for Norway, commonly called politiet, and sometimes called Norwegian police,[1] is formally called Norwegian Police Service (in Norwegian: Politi- og lensmannsetaten).

The police has 15,483 employees (as of 2016). If one also counts the employees of PST, an intelligence agency, the number of employees is over 16,000.[2]
