Promozione is the third level of the non-professional football in Italy and the sixth highest level. Now (2025–26 season) there are 855 clubs in 52 groups.

History
[change | change source]In the history of football in Italy, the name Promozione was given to different championship: for example, from 1912 to 1922 this was like Serie B, from 1948 like IV Serie and from 1967 like the first level of regional tournaments. With the institution of Eccellenza in 1992, Promozione became the sixth highest level in Italy.
