Richard Ashcroft
Richard Ashcroft (born 11 September 1971) is an English singer and songwriter. He is best known as the singer of the rock band The Verve, which he started in 1990. In the band, he also wrote the songs and played guitar. [1]
After The Verve broke up in 1999,[2] Ashcroft began a solo career. He has released several albums on his own, including Alone with Everybody, Keys to the World, and These People. All of them were Top 5 albums in the UK. The Verve came together again in 2007 but broke up once more in 2009.[3]
Ashcroft has won two Ivor Novello Awards for his songwriting.[4] His work has have influenced many British rock bands, such as Oasis and Coldplay. Noel Gallagher from Oasis once called him a “genius”.[5]
In October 2025, Ashcroft released his seventh studio album, Lovin' You.[6]
