Richard "Rigo" Kuthan (3 July 1891 – 10 February 1958) was an Austrian international footballer. He played for SK Rapid Wien as forward.[1][2]
Career
[change | change source]At the age of 15 he came to Rapid Wien. In the 1911–12 season he was captain of the team which won the first title for Rapid. From 1911 to 1925 he was the captain. In 246 matches for Rapid he scored 167 goals. He is still the 3rd highest scorer in the history of the side.
With Rapid he gained eight Austrian Championships and two cups. He reached the final of the Mitropa-Cup twice. In both 1915–16 and 1921–22 he was the top scorer in the league.[3]
International career
[change | change source]He played 24 matches and scored 15 goals for the Austria national football team. His debut was on 22 December 1912 versus Italy in Genoa where he also scored his first goal for Austria. His last match was on 6 May 1928 versus Yugoslavia.
