Rick May (September 21, 1940 – April 8, 2020) was a voice actor from Seattle. He voiced the Soldier in Team Fortress 2 and Peppy Hare in Star Fox 64. He also voiced many other characters from other video games. May was infected with COVID-19 in March 2020 and later died on April 8.[1][2]

Rick May suffered a stroke in February 2020. Because of this, he was moved to a nursing home so that he can get rehabilitation. On April 8, 2020, it was reported that Rick May died due to complications related to COVID-19 at the Swedish Medical Center in Seattle.[1][2]

Legacy[change | change source]

On May 1, 2020, Valve made an update to Team Fortress 2, dedicating their tributes to Rick May, who voiced the Soldier. They added memorial statues of Soldier to various maps in-game for the rest of May 2020, as a tribute for Rick May's work for his work on voice-acting.[3]
