Risala

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Risala (Arabic: رِسَالَةٌ) is one of the most important books by Imam al‑Shafiʿi. It is seen as the earliest book on Usul al‑Fiqh. In this book, Imam al‑Shafiʿi talked about the main places from which rulings are taken in Islamic law, including the Qurʾan, the Sunnah, Ijma, and Qiyas.[1] The book explains these sources and their role in taking legal rulings and how it helped improve the methodology of later scholars.[2] It is widely studied and referenced in Islamic legal theory.
