Rumi Utsugi (宇津木 瑠美, Utsugi Rumi, born December 5, 1988) is a Japanese football player. She played for the Japan national team.

Biography[change | change source]

Utsugi was born in Kawasaki on December 5, 1988. She began her professional career at Nippon TV Beleza in 2004. During her time at the club, she won four Nadeshiko League titles and five Empress's Cups. In August 2010, after six years at Beleza, Utsugi departed her home country to sign for French club Montpellier. In June 2016, she moved to NWSL club Seattle Reign FC (later Reign FC). She played for the club until 2019.

In 2005, Utsugi was selected by the Japan national team. She played at four World Cups in 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2019. Japan won the champions in 2011 and 2nd place in 2015. She also won the champions at 2014 and 2018 Asian Cup. She played 113 games and scored 6 goals for Japan until 2019.
