North Eastern State of Somalia (Waqooyibari) is a state within Somalia. Its old name was Khatumo and SSC-Maakhir. Its name was changed to Waqooyi bari or North-East State on 31st of July 2025.[3]

Most residents belong to the brotherly clans of the Reer-Darawiish clan and Warsangeli clans.
