Santa Fe de Nuevo México, when it was a part of Mexico between 1824 and 1846

Santa Fe de Nuevo México (shortened to Nuevo México and translated into English as New Mexico) was a part of New Spain from 1598 until 1824 and a territory of Mexico from 1598 until 1846. Then it was occupied by the United States of America during the Mexican–American War in 1846.

In 1848, after the war ended, it officially became part of the United States with the Mexican Cession that was agreed in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. First it was the New Mexico Territory. Now it is the U.S. state of New Mexico.
