From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Scaphocephaly is a condition that occurs when two parts of the skull fuse together.[1] It describes a long narrow head that looks like an overturned boat. It is a type of cephalic disorder.[source?]

Overview

[change | change source]

Scaphocephaly is the most common type of skull synostosis, or joining of two bones. It accounts for around 50% of cases of skull synostosis. It can be corrected by surgery if the child is young enough.[source?]

Scaphocephaly can be categorised into multiple types, depending on position or suture closure, such as bathrocephaly, clinocephaly, dolichocephaly, leptocephaly, and sphenocephaly.[source?]
