Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff) is a fictional character. She appears in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. Her first appearance was in The X-Men #4 (March 1964) in the Silver Age of Comic Books.

She is a mutant who has the ability to use chaos magic, and is the twin sister to Pietro, a fellow mutant who can move at fast speeds. Originally a member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Wanda and Pietro would redeem themselves and become members of the Avengers, a superhero team that stopped threats. Scarlet Witch became the love-interest to the Vision, an android created by Ultron, and the two would later marry.

The character has been adapted to different forms of media, including television series, action figures, and video games. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch is played by American actress Elizabeth Olsen.
