A shrunken head is a decapitated, specially prepared human head with the skull removed which is many times smaller than its original size. They are used for trophies, ritual, trade, or other purposes.

Headhunting is believed to have happened in many regions of the world. The practice of head shrinking has only been documented in the northwestern region of the Amazon rainforest.[1][2]
