Sigma male
Sigma male (or Sigma) is an internet meme which is its own internet slang. It is used to describe masculine men. The term became popular in the late 2010s and early 2020s. It has inspired many memes, videos and graffitis.[1] A sigma male is said to be the "rarest" kind of male.[2] It is similar to the alpha male.
Many people discuss sigma males on TikTok and other Websites. A popular song on TikTok uses "sigma" to mean "cool." Some people use this idea to feel strong alone.[3] In 2023, the hashtag #sigma had over 46 billion views on the social media platform TikTok.[4]
Some say the sigma male idea is not real or helpful. It’s not based on science. It might make people feel bad about themselves. Others say it’s just a joke about how some men act tough.[3]
