Simonetta Myriam Sommaruga (born 14 May 1960) is a Swiss politician. In 2020, she became President of the Swiss Confederation for 2020. She is a member of the Social Democratic Party.

Sommaurga has been a Member of the Federal Council since 2010.[1] She was Vice President of the Federal Council for the year 2014. In 2015, she was President of the Swiss Confederation.
