Slashing

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Slashing is an illegal hockey or lacrosse play. A referee calls slashing when a player swings their hockey stick at an opposing player. Slashing is called whether or not the player is hit with the stick. It can also be called if a player breaks an opposing player's stick with their own.

The penalty can be small or large. It often depends on how badly the opposing player is injured.
