Southern strategy

The southern strategy was a political strategy used by the United States Republican Party in the 1950s and 1960s. It was a plan to increase support for the Republican Party by appealing to racism in the southern states after the Jim Crow laws were stopped. It was used mostly by Barry Goldwater and Richard Nixon, and made the Republican Party become more Conservative.
