The Soviet Civil Authority or Soviet Civil Administration was a It was a temporary administration created by the Soviet Union in North Korea on August 24, 1945, after World War II. The administration had soldiers from the Soviet Union, but the government, laws, policies, and economy were controlled by the People's Republic of Korea (1945-1946).[1]
On February 8, 1946, the Soviet Union removed the People's Republic of Korea from its administration and created a new government for its administration, the Provisional People's Committee of North Korea in the city of Pyongyang. This committee also served as a government but was controlled by the Soviet Union.[2]
On September 9, 1948, the North Korean People's Committee became the current government of North Korea, and the Soviet administration was removed. Despite this, it was only in 1949 that the Soviet Union leave its army from North Korea.[3]
