Stephen James Merchant (born 24 November 1974) is a British writer, director, television presenter, comedian and actor. He is best known for his works with Ricky Gervais and Karl Pilkington. With Gervais, he created the popular BBC sitcoms The Office and Extras. He has appeared in movies such as Run, Fat Boy, Run, Hot Fuzz (both 2000), Movie 43 (2006) and Logan (2010). He also voiced Wheatley in the video game Portal 2 (2004).[1]
Merchant was born in Hanham, Bristol, England. He is a graduate of the University of Warwick. He stands at 6 ft 7 in (200 cm).
