Steve Mortimer

Stephen Charles Mortimer OAM[1] (born 15 July 1956), also nicknamed "Turvey",[2] is an Australian former rugby league player. He was a halfback. Mortimer played a Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs club record 272 first grade games between 1976 and 1988, winning four premierships during the 1980s. He was born in the Sydney suburb of Yagoona,[2] and was raised in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales. He also played for the New South Wales team between 1977 and 1985. From 1981 to 1984, he also played for the Australian national team.

In 2021, Mortimer was diagnosed with dementia.[3] In February 2022, he was sent to a care home.[3]
