Steven Bradbury

Steven John Bradbury OAM (born 14 October 1973) is an Australian former short track speed skater. He won the 1,000 m event at the 2002 Winter Olympics after all of his fellow competitors crashed into each other at the last corner. He was the first person from the Southern Hemisphere and first Australian to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics. He was also part of the short track relay team that won the bronze at the 1994 Winter Olympics, Australia's first Winter Olympic medal. He retired after his 2002 gold medal win.

Bradbury was born in Camden, New South Wales. In 2007, Bradbury was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for his Olympic gold medal win. He lives in Brisbane, Queensland.[1]
