Beethoven's sketches for his Opus 131

The String Quartet No. 14 in C minor, Opus 131, is a string quartet by Ludwig van Beethoven. He wrote it between November 1825 and July 1826. It was published in Mainz, Germany in April 1827 (after Beethoven's death) with a dedication to Baron Joseph von Stutterheim.[1]

The work consists of seven movements played without a break:

  1. Adagio ma non troppo e molto espressivo
  2. Allegro molto vivace
  3. Allegro moderato
  4. Andante ma non troppo e molto cantabile
  5. Presto
  6. Adagio quasi un poco andante
  7. Allegro

It is about 40 minutes in length.
