What does this sentence refer to?[change source]

"Amsterdam is the capital and largest city in the European country of the Netherlands. It is famous for its canals and dikes."

Does it refer to Amsterdam or the Netherlands? If it does to Amsterdam then it's wrong since there are no dikes in Amsterdam, if to the Netherlands, then it's right.

There are most certainly dykes in Amsterdam.

Removed a section[change source]

I've recently removed the following section, as it is unsourced and opinionated. If you have any objections or comments, please content me:

Amsterdam is known for its liberal attitude; young tourists visit this city mostly for its coffeeshops, shops where you can legally buy cannabis (marijuana) and the Red Light district where prostitutes, serve legally in special shops.
