 The principle reason for the failure of the desired counter-revolution was that the invasion force failed to reach the beach head intact. This was because the CIA selected location did not allow enough water depth for the landing craft to reach the beach.  The soldiers were force to carry ammunition and some lighter equipment through several hundred yards of surf to reach dry land. This denied them their vehicles,  artillery and other heavy supplies and equipment.
