Not simple!

Most of the redlinks are technical terms our readers will not understand. If the average person doesn't know what a bitcoin is, then explaining these terms is going to be some job! Macdonald-ross (talk) 11:55, 27 June 2018 (UTC)

Less of a Method, more of a Thing

If you think you can provide a better explanation please do. Note also that "database" has a very specific meaning. Also, how the thing is implemented is different from what the thing actually is. And since the thing is distributed (that is: generally you have serveral "agents" that find some form of "agreement" on a value), thats fundamentally different from a database, where you simply put and get a value. If you put a value into a database, the database usually makes sure you will read the value that you put in. In the case of a "digital ledger" that does not have to be the case. But I guess that's fairly technical, and depending on how you implement it (there will be several different ways to do it).

I understand it's very complicated lol

When the asset is distributed from one agent to another, it becomes a "block-chain". The series of transactions.

When you use the word "method", it implies some sort of procedure. Which there is, however I'm not sure if that's the accurate definition of it.

Or at least what I know in basic English.

Look how people use it in a sentence as an example:

"Let's look at the transactions in the blockchain". Rather than "Let's blockchain our digital assets."

Well I suppose, you can say "the assets go through a blockchain." IT does imply a procedure or method, but I believe that isn't the main thing the word is labelling.
