Changed[change source]

I've given this page a bit of a face up and removed those terrible "TRUE + TRUE = TRUE" statements, and replaced them with nice and simple truth tables. I hope it is okay - please let me know if there is anything that is not correct or if the changes are not satisfactory. Adamd1008 (talk) 20:08, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would strongly suggest against this. it requires explaining that 1 is "true", 0 is "false", + is "or", * is "and", and bar is "negate" this can be confusing in that these symbols also appear in elementary arithmitic. this means further explaination needs to be done to explain the difference. Further, even with the same symbols, 1+1 is ambigous as Galois fields GF(2) would have 1+1=0. Its probably best to stick with the logic-based interpretations spelled out and with examples. likewise, variables can be replaced with conditional statements. also, from a math perspective, there are actually other symbols that can be used.
also, is - actually xor? I've always seen the plus inside circle as xor.

Simple English?[change source]

The article starts of easy and I get everything until the identities part. But that part is pretty confusing and I don't get the NAND and stuff. Can someone please read over it and see if it can be made even more easier to understand than it already is?

Before the article starts off with explaining the gates why isn't the reader told what a logic gate is first? I was pretty confused about it when I came to this article.
