Not sure what the sentences mean[change source]

I'm not really sure what is meant by "interval races are not supported" or "During the marathon are also included runs with the ship." Could anyone help explain? I tried copy-editing a few things, but I don't want to mess with the original meaning of the sentences. -- Tumthe3 (talk) 01:01, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The first was really not needed as most short distance races never use interval racing - Interval racing when the racers are started at different times (different intervals). The winner is based on shortest time instead of who finishes first. This is often done on long distance races of many sports. The second one took me a bit to understand what was being talked about.. actually I finally figured it out as I was typing this (and it has been removed from the article as unneeded info). "runs with the ship" refers to portages - where the person gets out of the canoe and has to carry it over land then puts it back in the water and continues on. This can be a part of certain marathon races. --Creol(talk) 01:51, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I see. Thanks for the explanation. Also, the cleanup makes the page look better than before, but I found some typos (at least I think they were) and fixed them. -- Tumthe3 (talk) 02:50, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
