Proposal to make Chemical formula the main article[change source]

English WP and Tagalog WP use Chemical formula as the main article. Most of the other languages also do. So I propose that this be moved to Chemical formula, leaving Molecular formula as a redirect. zephyr2k 18:27, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Coefficient versus subscript possible confusion[change source]

In the article, [what should be written] "H2O2" is written as, "H2O2", which may be confusing to the reader because the numbers, "2", which represent the chemical subscripts, may be interpreted as chemical coefficients, because of the numbers' larger size.

Please change the "H2O2" to "H2O2" for easy reading and correctness. Thank you very much!

(P.S. You can display a subscript by preceeding the number by "" (without quotation marks) and following the number by "" (without quotation marks). Thanks again! :-))

Still complex[change source]

Racepacket asked me on my Talk page to review this. It is still complex. Just look at the opening sentence. "A molecular formula (or chemical formula) is a notation used by chemists to say how many different atoms are in one molecule of a chemical compound." It includes a redlink for the complex word "notation" that is key to understanding the term; a parenthetical description; several clauses. Not even close to being simple. And, the meaning isn't even correct. Read "how many different atoms" literally and carefully. H2O2 does not only mean that there are two different atoms, does it? If at least the opening sentence isn't simple, the article fails the reader. Gotanda (talk) 21:03, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

With all due respect, if I were allowed to add an article on notation, we could go a long way toward improving the situation. The word "notation" is used in 138 different Simple articles. I will simplify the sentence structure. Racepacket (talk) 00:42, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Notation is not needed. This is Simple English Wikipedia. "Way of writing" perhaps? If you can't or won't write simply, then you should pursue other projects. Gotanda (talk) 01:07, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I did not write this article. I am responding to User:Gotanda placing a {{complex}} on it. I have tried twice to help simplify the article. Perhaps User:Gotanda should give it a try -- the version that was there before today was misleading and did not help the reader. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 02:13, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies. I thought it was another of your chemistry articles. Gotanda (talk) 02:39, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Improving and Translating[change source]

I would like to add some parts by translating and improving this article from my first language 16chseld 118 (talk) 16:09, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Improving[change source]

A chemical formula tells us the number of atoms of each element in a compound. It contains the symbols of the atoms of the elements present in the compound, as well as how many there are for each element in the form of subscripts. 16chseld 118 (talk) 16:09, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Add new information[change source]

I would like to add more information to your article and photos. Please message me if you want to talk about how to add more information in your article 16chseld 118 (talk) 16:41, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
