Talk:Coal[change source]

The back in fashion section of the simple:coal article is out date and I wanted to add a new section named "the current state of coal." I have made an example of what I wanted to add, but I am not sure if it ready for the article. Would you be able to take a look? Thank you for your help.

The current state of coal[change source]

With the rise of renewable energy such as solar and wind, coal, and coal power plants are becoming less dependent in the United States and abroad. Energy pricing associated with coal production and renewable energy has become competitive while coal production declines. Coal decline can be directly attributed to the rise in natural gas production due to new technological advances. With the low cost pricing of natural gas, investment in renewable energy over coal, the world faces an uncertain future for the best form of energy.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]

Back in fashion[change source]

This sections reads as a promotion of the coal industry. Also I'm surprised to learn that wind farms 'pollute the living environment' :S The Watchtower (talk) 06:22, 21 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Fron En wiki: The estimated number of bird deaths caused by wind turbines in the United States is between 140,000 and 328,000. Perhaps not excessive compared to other causes of bird mortality. The "industrialization of the countryside" issue has many complainants in Wales (for example) where in many areas the landscape had been free of all signs of technology. And I see from En wiki that the Mountaineering Council of Scotland concluded that wind farms have a negative impact on tourism in areas known for natural landscapes and panoramic views. It's not a "promotion of the coal industry" to point out these things. Macdonald-ross (talk) 09:08, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Should deaths be in the lead?[change source]

Hello Macdonald-ross

In the latest change you commented "discussed below" but I am having trouble finding the discussion

I don't think they mean a talk page discussion. Most likely referring to the "Deaths and illness from pollution" section of the article having similar information. --Gordonrox24 | Talk 19:10, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I see thanks. Yes everything in the lead should also be in the body of the article, usually in more detail. Chidgk1 (talk) 13:41, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
