Including Schematics of condom use is seen as bad?[change source]

I don't believe we should tell people where condoms are sold because in a way that is side tracking the article, that's like giving prices for a typical bottle of shampoo or something - doesn't belong on wikipedia. The reason why we shouldn't show the application is that there is a wiki-books article on that subject, and the picture alone is offensive, disctracting the reader from the actual product. 71.129.157.203 04:19, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I do not think that the picture is offensive, it can be found i other langauage versions of wikipedia (I took it from the german version, I think). If there is a wikibook on the proper use of condoms (Incluing how to put them on, then this book should be linked from here. On the other hand, simply putting the images a link away does not make them less offensive.

Those who view this article are likely in search of information about the subject. It is therefore unlikely that they will be offended by seeing the (schematic) representation of an erect penis, and how a condom is put over it. Our focus here should be education. Sexuality is a taboo in most cultures, so we cannot siply say that by withholding the information this information will simply be obtained elsewhere. If people do not knowthey are not likely to ask, and as a consequence might get a sexually transmitted disease.

Someone visiting pages with clearly sexually-oriented content should not be offended by seeing such a schematic. Given this criticism, I have reverted your edits, and included more material to take the article lcoser to the german one )which also includes the pictures), and has been nominated for featured article.

If you insist on not seeing the picture, please do at least get a username before you come back, I hate to communicate with IP Addresses.

Keeping an open mind on use of condoms in gay/lesbian communities?[change source]

Should we focus more on the fact that condoms also get used in gay/lesbian communities? - Personally I think we should focus on getting the information across. Are there any other opinions around?

I'm not sure about this, but does a diaphragm qualify as a female condom? If so, I would be happy to write a short article on it to be merged with this article, or just to link to it in some way.

Further simplifying[change source]

PLease help to further simplify the page. When I took it over (sorta/kinda), I had the german Kondom article in mind (which won a notable article. I then took over some parts from the english article, which brought me an unsimple tag.

So please help me simplify further, keeping in mind that this information may be the only thing some people may read. As stated above, talking about sex is a taboo in many cultures, and sex education may simply not be done.
