Cayce's Health[change source]

"The trance reading produced a visible strain on Cayce’s health, and he attributed the occasional failure to working under too great a pressure to give a clear reading."
I saw a documentary that suggested Cayce felt the strain on his health was due to him giving readings to people who had selfish interests. He originally gave readings to diagnose the sick and suggest ways for them to improve their health, but then people started asking him to predict which stocks would go up in value and quite a few of those people did well for themselves as a result. Incidentally, he predicted the crash of 1929. Those are the questions that made him feel ill. Since he was in a trance, he never remembered what questions he was asked or what predictions he told once he woke up. As a result, he later had the questions filtered through his wife.
