Help needed[change source]

The statement that "Courses in most schools are taught exclusively in English" needs clarification. I imagine that primary schools use the local language, and secondary schools a mixture of Hindi, English, and the local language (if different from Hindi). What's needed here is more precise information and a reliable source. I suggest editors put their thoughts here so they can be reviewed. It's quite possible that practices vary in the different states. Macdonald-ross (talk) 09:26, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As you suggest, this issue seems to be complicated and probably quite difficult to pin down to statistical evidence. There is a detailed article on enwiki: "Education in India" and even in 74,797 bytes it mentions nothing about languages spoken by teachers in class. Clarification is requested only for the vague last sentence in the paragraph. Because there are supporting references earlier in the paragraph, but none for this phrase, I will remove it at least for now.... Fylbecatulous talk 14:07, 30 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've now added a reference, the first part of which is the British Council's assessment of the teaching of English in India. It shows clearly how variable are the circumstances in that large country. Macdonald-ross (talk) 09:34, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
