Doubts about translation[change source]

The page claims to be a translation of the En wiki page. Is it? A very significant difference is in the format of the sources. Another significant difference is the section headed 'Torture claims'. I am thinking that we should move all sources to those used by En wiki and make this page more obviously a Simple version of their page. I am also concerned that it was put up in one huge block, thus masking the normal editing procedure. Reason: we should not allow an editor (his only edit here) to put up a version which may not fairly represent the En version. I am not going to address directly the issue of bias, about which I make no comment. Obviously it is a sensitive topic. I just think, if an article here claims to be a version of an En wiki, we should be able to see from the page what the relationship is. Macdonald-ross (talk) 12:02, 22 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have copied over a version of EnWP into my user space, and I am in the process of simplifying it. See here. The EnWP article is somewhere over 200k text, and probably much too detailed for what we need. I do however think we should try talking to the editor, cutting down the 220k enwp to the about 30k we have currently is not trivial. A way forward can only include the original translator. --Eptalon (talk) 14:28, 22 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The contributor has never edited on En wiki, never edited here, and he claims this page is a version of the En wiki page. I do not think we will hear from him any day soon! Macdonald-ross (talk) 15:47, 22 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Then we go ahead, copyedit/simplify the version in my userspace; later we can move it over the original. --Eptalon (talk) 15:56, 22 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
