"Murder" vs. "Killing"[change source]

Its murder NOT just killing. 203.206.245.85 18:59, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Killing" is fact-based. "Murder", especially when it hasn't been proven in court, is an opinion, thus inherently POV. Freshstart 20:37, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"POV" language[change source]

The page presently has the following statement: Hamas claims it has created social networks for supporting the "poor" in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, to hide their terrorist activities. [Italics mine]
The use of quotation marks around the word "poor" is inappropriate: the poverty is related to the extremely high-density population in the Gaza Strip and lack of economic opportunities there as well as in the West Bank under its long-term military occupation by Israel. I am rewriting this passage accordingly. -- Deborahjay 21:40, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bases of the article[change source]

At the start, the article was a snippet from en:Hamas. I think that article will still provide enough material for extending this one, but of course, any citeable source can be used. --Eptalon 21:47, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article is also not up to date regarding the split (I think Gaza Strip - Hamas, West-Bank - Fatah (is that spelled correctly?)) --Eptalon 21:50, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've expanded some along these lines, striving for NPOV. -- Deborahjay 23:46, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An unnamed user added questionable changes to the page on 14 September [1], I don’t think this is neutral. -Deppty (talk) —Comment without a date added on 19:06, 3 April 2022

"Local work" section[change source]

A section of the article says "Hamas has shown its organizational ability by building health, education, and social services to help the population in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, where there is much poverty. Such efforts have increased its support."

This is, indeed, verified in the source, which says that Hamas became popular among Palestinians partly because of its social projects. However, this source is from 2010 and a more recent source may be needed. Kk.urban (talk) 03:32, 19 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How about this one?

Al-Qaida alliance was over extrapolating[change source]

I removed this from non state allies. The reference doesn't support a mutual alliance.

Al-Qaeda (since 2023) [1]
  1. Burke, Jason (2023-10-22). "Al-Qaida and IS call on followers to strike Israeli, US, and Jewish targets". The Guardian. ISSN 0261-3077. Retrieved 2024-01-23.

Some of that goes against Hamas' explicit goals and policies. They consistently deny any violent intent toward the Jewish diaspora outside Israel (with one or a few rare exceptions which were retracted days later).

Listing Al-Qaida as an alliance is taking "enemy of my enemy" a bit too far. Not every enemy of Israel is an ally of Hamas. If we used this logic then ISIS would be an ally of both the USA and Assad's Syria based on the 3-sided Syrian war.

The reference said they congratulated Hamas, but says nothing about the endorsement being welcomed, accepted, or even acknowledged.

You could add an "endorsed by" section of you really want? but that's not enough to count as an alliance.
