Portrait[change source]
Pinging @DeirgeDel: I removed the portrait because it's likely not a portrait of J.G. Walther. See [1] which has the same painting, but in color, and is attributed as a portrait of a "Thomas Christian Walther". — *Fehufangą ♮ ✉ Talk page 14:10, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Fehufanga:: Be aware google translate, albeit imperfect, is giving me the translation of the caption as "Angelo Crescimbeni, portrait by Thomas Christian Walther" and I on research I am inclined to think Walther is the composer and Crescimbeni the artist, but that is not how I view how that translation reads. - Thankyou for letting me know. If there is good cause for doubt it is right the image is removed in my opinion. The root problems are File:Walther-Johann-Gottfried-01.jpg is in Commons:Category:Johann Gottfried Walther and at d:Q61716 in Wikidata. I've depreciated the image on Wikidata as a precaution. I had a look at the source of the image on commons and it seems to be relying on the filename. Its a high impact file used on multiple Wiki's. I've ended up placing message at Commons:Commons:Village pump#Problem with image with false information. for worse. So much for trying to help. As indef blocked on the English Wikipedia I need to stay out anything that W:en:WP:CIR and W:en:WP:BATTLEGROUND. Especailly as I have an unblock request in progress that doesn't look as if its going to go well. The sad part is I might have helped fix stuff until told it was my job to fix as I'm made the mistake brining a deletion discussion. I think I'k done the right thing on Wikidata though.
