On all tests except the Flesch-Kincaid Reading Ease, lower is better. The changes to the prose from the English version to the Simple version are (with one exception) 2+ grade levels easier to read after the editing here. In the one exception there is only a 1/2 grade difference (still improved). Sentences there are over 50% larger than the ones used here on average.
Much of the structure of the original is still present as the data is informative. This was a translation, not a stripped down version of the original.
