Extent of list[change source]

Yes, I think we could limit this list. Maybe Premier and Championship only, or -- simpler -- just the top 50. Macdonald-ross (talk) 15:11, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions[change source]

Let me make some suggestions which would make updating and copy editing easier:

  1. We should round numbers up or down to the nearest 100. Obviously it is ridiculous to go down to the last unit, because no ground controls its entry that precisely. There's probably some number registered with the local authority and police, and for sure it will be a rounded number. To give you an idea of how silly it is to use exact numbers, the English wiki Man U. capacity is not the same as the Manchester United club website capacity. Most of our numbers differ slightly from the En wiki numbers.
  2. Obviously, we should place a comma before the last three figures. Otherwise the figures are harder to read. We should be consistent.
  3. We could shorten the list. We're having problems keeping up, and it is easier to manage short lists.
  4. The list should not change from year to year except when there is evidence that a ground's capacity has changed. We should insist that changes are justified by sources, otherwise they should be routinely reverted. That is fair if -- and only if -- we agree to simplify the lists. At present it's difficult to revert changes because the research needed is quite time-consuming. Hence this memo. Macdonald-ross (talk)

Gateshead International Stadium[change source]

This football and athletics ground is not included although claiming a capacity well above minimum to qualify and in National League within the 5 divisions of original pyramid selection


Absence of Old Trafford[change source]
