  • "Extremely long hair (usually waist length or longer) is only found in females. The reason is that the female hormonal system affects the growth of their hair, just as the male hormonal system supports facial hair growth."
This doesn't seem right. There are plenty of men in South Asian and native American cultures with waist-length hair and longer. A simple Google search will come up with plenty of images contrary to our claim. It would be good to get some sources describing exactly what is correct, but probably we can rephrase the sentence to say that women's hair usually grows faster (and longer?) than men's? The human species has a huge amount of polymorphism, of which hair variations are an example. The statement in the article seems to be true of typical Caucasian and African peoples, but maybe not of all human populations. Certainly there are some women who cannot grow long hair, and some men who can, even amongst Caucasians. The word "usually" is certainly needed! Hmm, on a second reading, I think the wording seems properly qualified. Macdonald-ross (talk) 08:26, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
