=Some facts about Louis XV[change source]

His father was the Duke of Burgundy, Louis the XIVth grand-son.

As he became king at the age of 5, his uncle Philippe of Orléans became Regent until 1723. Great social changes occured during the Regency, mainly a terrible economic crisis due to mad speculation induced by John Law system.

The young king, "Louis the Beloved" at that time, married Maria Leczinska, daughter to the throneless king of Poland, Stanislas. Under prime minister Cardinal Fleury, helped by economist Orry, France bettered its industry, agriculture, roads, and trade.

Unfortunately, in 1733 Fleury wanted France to help Poland king Stanislas against Austria, in the War of Polish Succession. By the Vienne treaty of 1738, Stanislas gave up Poland and instead accepted Lorraine, a province which was to become french after his death.
