I think a lot of mis-information has been added to this page by an anon. I will have to do something to make the page encyclopedic. --Bhadani 16:50, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I feel satisfied that Bhar had removed the vandalism to this page. I pity the people who vandalise such pages. --Bhadani 15:19, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, first before I debate this, I must know, wtf is an anon and why pity me?

anon is anonymous people who change pages witout having an account. pity is for vandalisers who change the pages for fun or hatred etc.

Imporovement needed[change source]

If there is someone good at the history of Turkey, I think some oints are worth mentioning:

  • Turkey is a secular state today. This means that religion is a private matter - not a matter of the state; IIRC the wearing of religious symbols (veil for women, turbans) is stull forbidden in turkey (outside the context of a religious service or in a religious building)
  • Aratürk was a military leader; part of his reign was a dictatorship.
  • The Turkish laws are based on: Swiss civil law, Italian penal code; German trade laws.
  • Turkish uses the Latin alphabet, not the arabic script.

As always, these are just pointers. --Eptalon (talk) 12:44, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article is too short and we can add a lot informations about him and Turkish Revolution. I think Turkey was in East at past, but Turkey is a part of West now. I want to add more informations. Thanks... --Dsmurat (talk) 13:16, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What is this written in?[change source]

"He is known for being a leader who freed his people from being controlled by other countries and then for starting changes that founded Turkish nation state based on social and economic nationalism, more modern and similar to Western civilization, mainly France (such as the French model of secularism called laïcité)."

One paragraph, one sentence, the exact opposite of simple. From an SE standpoint the entire article is a waste of space.. --Creol(talk) 15:54, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sources?[change source]

Where are the sources used for this information? Some statements also seem very subjective. I quote from the article: "Few countries have such a person in their history. He was a successful military commander." There are many other great leaders in history and this statement makes it look like Ataturk is extra special. --Lindejarings (talk) 21:09, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
